I’ve never wanted to be an actor. I think I just admire the talent.
First of all this book is about talent, sure “The Method” is an acting method, but whole idea of this book is how to you work out so that people believe you are talented. I will keep in mind sentences like : “Do not work for the end result first”.
The second aspect of this book is about creating believable characters. Creating believable characters is something that is really important in the screenplay aspect of videogames. Sure the tools are really differents, in games we have rules, interactions, and behavior that are the most important parameters, but when you present the character to the player, he must express something, and he must communicate his emotions and his understanding of the world we put the player in. I think especially about “awareness”.
Finally this book covers the aspect of creating a believable experience, and that’s really close to what we try to do in games. The book talks about spectator’s desire to believe. The book talks about how analysis of human and society is important to make everything believable.
